The device can measure the temperature of food in °C and °F. The temperature range is very wide, which extends its range of use. The device has a robust design so that the device can work for many years. The housing is made of ABS plastic and complies with protection class IP65: it can withstand accidental jets of water and even a fall into water.

The temperature readings are shown on the integrated display. The large digits make it easy to read; there is also a backlight. There are three operating keys next to the display: °C/°F (unit of measurement conversion), "HOLD" (hold the current temperature) and "ALARM/SET" (alarm/settings). The unit is batteryoperated. To save battery power, there is an automatic switchoff function. The display backlight automatically turns off after 5 seconds and the unit turns off after 10 minutes.
