The fire salamander has a beautiful black and yellow patterned, shiny skin. It is easy to spot as it sits on a cushion of moss and is quite large for an amphibian. Its bright body colour protects it from predators. However, it is not advisable to bite into it.

Despite its striking black and yellow pattern, most animals keep their distance because it is poisonous. However, this specimen can be safely stroked by friends.
